Year 5's Victorian Workshop
The purpose of this workshop was for children to learn about the lives of children in Victorian England - what and how they learnt at school, what sort of toys they had and what was their life was like at home.
In the first half of the workshop children had a true Victorian classroom experience. Their teacher made them use actual ink or write on slates. He was also quite terrifying! In the afternoon, children had a chance to make Victorian toys, explore artefacts or write postcards using ink.
Children really enjoyed an opportunity to explore so many news aspects of the topic we are learning about in Humanities. Every one was engaged throughout and gained lots of new knowledge. The staff were fascinated by pupils' engagement and they were incredibly proud to see the Year 5 pupils gain so much knowledge.
We would definitely do a similar workshop again in order to expand our knowledge when learning about the Victorians!
